While living in Atmore, Mildred created a First Methodist Church group called, “The Joy Riders,” a group created so older members could take day trips to other towns.

They traveled in a bus that Mildred’s family owned. Mildred was an accomplished florist and artist and made it her lifelong career. For many years, she was co owner, with her sister Betty Raley, of Barton Flower Shop in Atmore. Later, she started The Lazy Daisy Flower Shop in Gulf Shores.

Mildred sang alto in every Methodist Church that she belonged to since childhood. In her retirement years, Mildred volunteered in many organizations, working behind the scenes at the Fort Morgan Living History Program, the Fort Morgan Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, where she was a founding member, the First United Methodist Church and an original Election Day Poll Worker for the Ft. Morgan area.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Marion “Bubba” Hanson; brother, Dennis Walker; and sisters, Edith W. Cobb and Carolyn W. Davidson.

She is survived by her sister, Betty W. Raley of Atmore; daughter, Marlene Nall Johnt (James W.) of Gulf Shores; and much loved granddaughter, Alaina M. Harris of Washington, D.C. She also leaves behind 10 nieces and nephews who will miss her.

Graveside service for close family members will be held at the Shell Banks Baptist Church Cemetery in Gulf Shores.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shell Banks Cemetery Fund, Shell Banks Baptist Church, 12125 St. Hwy 180, Gulf Shores, AL 36542 or the Washington National Cathedral “Crèche Exhibit” online at: https://cathedral.org/support-ministries/ or to their Development Office at 3101 Wisconsin Ave. NW, Washington, D.C.  20016-5098.
