ECHA: 39 reported cases of COVID-19 at hospitals

The Escambia County Healthcare Authority announced this morning that there have been 39 reported and confirmed cases of COVID-19 at its hospitals.

According to the ECHA’s biweekly update, which includes numbers updated to reflect current case numbers, there have been 33 confirmed and reported cases of COVID-19 at Atmore Community Hospital with 405 specimens collected, 359 negative results, 12 pending and one inconclusive.

There have been six confirmed cases at D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital in Brewton with 206 specimens collected, 192 negative results, eight pending and zero inconclusive.

According to the Alabama Department of Public Health, there have been 39 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Escambia County with 831 specimens collected and three confirmed patient deaths. Compared to last week, the number of specimens collected increased by 152.

In the state, there have been 11,101 confirmed cases so far with 144,422 specimens collected and 473 confirmed patient deaths, up 102 from last Friday’s report, according to the ADPH.

and others. Continue to practice healthy habits to help slow the

spread of COVID-19.

• Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds

• Clean and then disinfect frequently used surfaces

• Stay home if you’re sick

• Avoid touching your face

help prevent the spread of COVID19 to others. When

you go out on essential trips, follow these “do’s”. If

you have a child, remember those under age 2 should

not wear a face covering.
