Baseball is set to start next week for the Cal Ripken 12 and up division, according to officials.
League President Murray Johnson said baseball is scheduled to start June 15.
All players that have paid for the 2020 season will have the fee waived for the 2021 season, Johnson said.
“In September some of the 12 and up players will be playing middle school football so we will begin baseball June 15 for the 12 and up players,” Johnson said. “After a 10-game schedule we will be playing in a tournament July 30-August 1.”
Due to the ongoing Covid19 threat to the safety of all that would be participating in the Atmore Cal Ripken Baseball League, we will resume the 2020 season the first week of September for all ages 4 through 12 with limited spectator attendance at games, and following strict guidelines, Johnson added.
Johnson thanked the community for its patience and is excited to announce that baseball will not be cancelled for the famous Cal Ripken team.
