Helen Irene Henry, 72, departed this life on June 28, 2020, in Newark, Del., surrounded by her loving family.  

Helen is the daughter of the late John and Annie Seales (of Latham); sister to the late Cathy Lang, and was the wife of Jonathan Henry; mother of Ta-Tanisha Henry (Newark) and Jonta Henry (Union City, N.J.).

Helen  was the owner of H & J Salon and Barber. She was involved with the Kiwanis Girls Club, Newark Girls Club and was a former educator at Gauger Middle School. Helen was also a devoted member of Macedonia Baptist Church.

She leaves to cherish her memory six sisters, Shirley Bussey of Carson, Calif., Virginia Barnes of Los Angeles, Calif., Brenda Smith (Jerome) of Cordova, Tenn., Kimberly Seales of Cordova, Karen Seales of Cordova and Yvonne Seales of Latham; four brothers, John Seales Jr. of California City, Calif., Samuel Seales (Annie Sharon) of Junction City, Kan., Charles Seales of Compton, Calif. and Christopher Seales of Latham; four grandchildren, Michael Johnson-Henry, Nondie Custis-Henry, Alaysia McNeely and Cheyenne McNeely; one great-grandchild Aiden Custis, all of Newark; and one aunt, Rosetta Brown of Latham.

There will be a public viewing from 5-7 p.m. this Fri., July 10 at Mayberry Funeral Home.

Her burial will be on Sat., July 11, at 11 a.m. at John Seales Cemetery in Latham.
