It was good to get away

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Sometimes, it’s just good to get away for a short while.

Over the past weekend, I got the chance to get away for a couple days and spend some time with my family.

Thankfully, all of us are healthy and were able to do so.

Our plans for Friday included going tubing down a river near where we were staying in North Carolina.

Well, those plans fell through as the weather came through.

Apparently, when it storms, all tubing and white water companies close for the day.

Makes sense because the level of the water can rise and lightning and water don’t mix too well.

We spent some time in a nearby town not far from the tubing place, and were content with the outing.

My brother and myself discovered a brewing company called Mountain Layers Brewing Co.

The brewery was highly-rated, and after my nieces and nephews got icecream, we trudged over to the brewery for one beer each.

Mom got an IPA, and my brother and I drank a lager. It was quite good.

Back in the car, we made our way back to our destination.

We had a good night that night as we celebrated our parents’ anniversary.

The next day, I helped Dad with some chores around the house and before we knew it, it was time to say goodbye.

After sending my brother and his family off, I spent some time in Sunday School with my parents via zoom and off I went.

Back safely on Sunday night, I did some work and smiled because I was thankful to have the opportunity to get away.

Now, back to work.
