Escambia County EMA Director David Adams said today that the forecast track for Tropical Storm Laura has shifted to the west.

“This still has our area on the east side of the forecast center,” Adams said in an email. “Historically this is the stronger side of a tropical system. There is still considerable uncertainty in the forecast track and intensity, due to interaction with the land mass of the islands and the unprecedented potential interaction with (Tropical Storm) Marco.”

Adams encouraged residents to keep monitoring the forecast for changes over the next few days.

“It is still wise to use this time to review your readiness for a storm,” he said. “The forecast may change or the next storm may not give us as much time to prepare.”
