Malcolm C.  “Sam” Lee Sr., 84, of Atmore, passed away on Aug. 21, 2020 in Bay Minette.

He was born on April 22, 1936 in Pensacola, Fla. to the late Billy Washington and Mattie Reed Lee.

He served 34 years combined service in the United States Navy, Army National Guard, Alabama Army National Guard and the Army Reserves.

He was employed with Escambia County Department of Corrections for 13 years and the Escambia County Sheriff’s Department for 12 years.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret McCullough Lee; two sets of twin infant children; his parents; and his siblings, Mac Lee, Margaret “Sis” Lee and Billy Ray Lee.

He is survived by two sons, Malcolm “Sammy” Lee Jr. of Atmore and Scott (Donna) Lee of Atmore; two daughters, Lisa Lee (Mark) Peacock of Silverhill and Teresa Lee (Jim) Mauldin of Loxley; 13 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held on Aug. 24, 2020 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Doug Odom and Bro. Mark Peacock officiating.

Interment followed at McCullough Cemetery in McCullough.

Active pallbearers were The Escambia County Alabama Sheriff’s Department Honor Guard.

Honorary pallbearers were Tanner Norman, Roderick Farrington, Austin Lee, Kyle McGhee, Nicholas Mills, Tyler Moser and Jacob Lee.

Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
