Ruby McMillen, 94, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Mon., Aug. 10, 2020 at the Glendale Assisted Living.
She was born in Atmore to Ellie Moye and Thomas James Blackmon on Jan. 12, 1925.
She was a 1943 graduate of Atmore High School.
Ruby married the love of her life and they shared 51 wonderful years together travelling all over the United States.
She worked in the largest Woolworth in the U.S., located in Albuquerque, N.M.
She and hubby loved to travel with New Mexico being her favorite state.
Ruby was a ham radio operator in many states, W81EO being one of her call letters.
She built her own transmitter and also worked at Eprad building boards for drive inn speakers.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Joann Firsdon; granddaughters, JoDel Freeman and Yolonda Backlund; grandchildren, Sierra, Madison and Dakota Freeman; as well as nephews, Ronnie Lowery and James Gulley.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Joe C. McMillen in 1995; her sisters, Annie Lowery, Mae Simmons and Allie Gulley; and brother, Caz Blackman, as she was the baby of the family.
American Cremation Events assisted the family with arrangements.
