A resource team with Main Street Alabama will be in Atmore this week, according to officials.

The team will be in Atmore Sept. 3-5.

Atmore became affiliated with the Main Street Alabama program through the network tier in 2015. Members become more familiar with the program, attend training workshops at a discounted rate and given the opportunity to visit other designated cities to see first-hand the success of Main Street in the introductory level.

Atmore recently was named a designated city on June 5, according to Advance archives.

The resource team visit is a service provided by Main Street Alabama to guide local revitalization efforts for a newly established Main Street program, according to a release.

The team will provide recommendations for action to the Main Street Atmore program based on the four-point approach. The objective is to recommend a course of action with specific activities for each of the four committees with an emphasis on economic development.

Recommendations are based on information gathered through a review of written materials, interviews and meetings, and a facilitated community visioning session. The visioning session was held on Sept. 1, and complete coverage from the meeting will be in the Sept. 9 edition of The Atmore Advance.

The resource team includes Mary Helmer, Main Street Alabama state coordinator; Courtney Bennett, Montevallo Main Street director; Jay Schlinsog, district professionals network; and Randy Wilson, community design solutions.

Additionally, Main Street Alabama is slated to be in Atmore multiple times this year as the program builds up its volunteer base, committees and board.

The next visit is Oct. 14-15 for basic training.
