Mrs. Lorraine Middleton Etheridge, 94, passed away peacefully on Fri., Sept. 18, 2020 at her daughter’s home in Mineola.

Mrs. Etheridge was born in Old Texas, in Monroe County. Her family moved to Butler Street, and she finished high school at J.U. Blacksher in Uriah. She and her husband, Horace, resided in Atmore for many years, and then moved to Lottie in 1968, where she lived for 32 years. She resided in Canoe for 16 years, and The Meadows in Atmore for 3-and-a-half years.

Mrs. Etheridge was a member of the Lottie United Methodist Church and served faithfully with the United Methodist Women, and the cemetery committee. She loved to line dance, she was a big supporter of veterans and was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the American Legion of Atmore.

Mrs. Etheridge was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was a precious sister, aunt, cousin and a dear friend to many. She was always a hard worker, and maintained a beautiful smile and a positive attitude. Mrs. Etheridge loved the Lord Jesus, and spent many quiet hours with him. She went home to spend eternity with him.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Horace Etheridge; a son, Ronnie Singleton; three brothers, Glenn Middleton, Leston Middleton and Harold Middleton; and two sisters, Catherine McKenzie and Eloise Criswell.

She is survived by four sons, Larry Singleton (Deborah) of Elberta, Stanley Singleton (Marilyn) of Atmore, Bernard Etheridge (Pam) of Atmore and Donnie Etheridge of Atmore; two daughters, Barbara Taylor (Larry) of Dayton, Texas and Kay Vickrey (Weldon) of Mineola; one brother, Wendell Middleton (Verla) of Butler Street; three sisters, Doris Jaye (Kenneth) of Uriah, Mickie Brown of Butler Street and Becky Pope (Tim) of Grand Bay; and a sister-in-law, Carolyn Mason. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held tomorrow, Tues., Sept. 22, 2020 at 10 a.m. at the Lottie Methodist Church with Sis. Kay Vickrey officiating.

Burial will follow at the Lottie Methodist Cemetery.

Visitation will be held today, Mon., Sept. 21, 2020, from 6-8 p.m. at the Petty Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes LLC.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Etheridge, Roy Etheridge, Pete White, Morgan Middleton, Stan Singleton Jr. and Ray Singleton.

The honorary pallbearer will be Tim Pope.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Lottie Methodist Church Cemetery Fund.
