Mr. Hugo “Son” English, 80, passed away on Wed., Oct. 14, 2020 at his home in Brewton.

Mr. English was a native of Pleasant Grove and had resided in Brewton for most of his life. He was a retired corrections officer, as a sergeant, with 27 years of service. He was retired from the Alabama National Guard, as a sergeant, with 29 years of service, owner of Sunshine Kennell for 20 years and was a member of the Osaka Free Will Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Kanie and Sudie English; three brothers; and three sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years and 10 months, Eunice McMillan English of Brewton; children, Anita (Robert) Moye of Brewton, James Hugo (Sarah) English of Stanley Crossroads and Sudie (Gerald) Steege of Walnut Hill, Fla.; one sister, Juanita (Earl) Gunn of Huxford; five grandchildren, Robert, Sunni, Jonathon, Gerry and Tabitha; eight great-grandchildren, Madyson, Luke, Ben, Hollis, Addisyn, Maris, Wesley and Wyatt; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

A funeral service was held on Oct. 17, 2020 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Waylon Stuckey officiating.

Burial followed at Traveler’s Rest Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Robert Moye, Luke Moye, Randy Jackson, Jonathon English, James Roberson and Gerry Steege.

Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes LLC of Atmore was in charge of all arrangements.
