The Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles will hold a parole hearing today for an Atmore man who is serving a 10-year prison sentence for violating the sex offender registration law.

ABPP Director of Communications Terry Abbott said in a release that Jason Obie Daughtery has served two years, two months of the sentence.

Abbott said Daughtery was convicted in a rape II case in Escambia County from 1998.

“He was sentenced in 2006 to 15 years for that rape, but he was released early from prison after serving less than seven years, eight months,” Abbott said in a release. “After he was released from prison, he was required to register as a sex offender, but in 2015 he was convicted of failing to register and was sentenced to one year, eight months.”

Abbott said Daughtery was also convicted in 2015 in Escambia County for possession of a controlled substance, and was sent back to prison in March 2019 after failing to register as a sex offender again.

Parole decisions will be announced at the end of the day today.
