Thirty years ago, in 1990, the newspaper was full of lots of ghosts, goblins and other creepy things which were happy colleting plenty of candy and goodies.

Two World War II veterans, Ralph Odum and Edison Hall recalled their expericences in the war. Odum said he didn’t enjoy any part of it and wouldn’t want to ever do it again. He was the company barber and that every minute he had when he could have rested, he was cutting hair.
He served under General George Patton and was in the forefront of everything going on. He was in North Africa and then was sent to England to prepare for the invasion of Europe. He was in the group that landed on the beaches of Normandy and fought his way into Berlin. In fact, they arrived in Berlin just after Hitler committed suicide. No wonder he didn’t “enjoy” his time in service.
The year 1990 was to be special for Santa Claus in Atmore. He was set to arrive in town by parachute during the special Christmas season celebration.
