COVID-19: ECHA reports 887 confirmed cases

The Escambia County Healthcare Authority announced today that there have been 887 reported cases of COVID-19 out of its two hospitals.

According to a release, 621 cases have been reported out of Atmore Community Hospital, and 266 from D.W. McMillan Memorial in Brewton.

At ACH, 3,031 specimens have been collected, 2,354 have been negative with 13 pending and 43 inconclusive.

At DWM, 1,450 specimens have been collected with 1,149 negative results, nine pending and 26 inconclusive.

According to the Alabama Department of Public Health, 1,862 confirmed cases have been reported out of Escambia County. More than 500 specimens have been collected over the last 14 days. Thirty-one people have died in the county.

The numbers are updated biweekly to help reflect current case numbers from the ECHA. Due to the timing of the informatin, the numbers may differe from the numbers on the ADPH’s website.

Confirmed cases are recorded by public health officials in the patient’s county of residence.
