Ms. Joyce Marie North, 77, of Atmore, fell asleep in the arms of Jesus on Sat., Nov. 21, 2020, at her home while she was surrounded by her family.
A native of Atmore, Ms. North was born July 10, 1943 to Willie and Bessie Lee Clark. She was a graduate of of Escambia County Training School (1960) and she had been a member of Greater Mt. Triumph Baptist Church since her youth. She was retired from Escambia County Board of Education, where she worked as assistant manager in the cafeteria at Rachel Patterson Elementary School until her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James North Sr.; her parents; two sisters, Thelma Ray and Pollie Clark; and three brothers, Willie Arthur Clark, Fred Clark Sr. and Larry Clark.
Those left to cherish memories of her life are eight daughters, Vickie North, Janice North, LaTonya North, Latonya North, Keshia Curry, Brenda Brown, Tieka North all of Atmore, Kendra Clark of Evergreen and Janice Primm of Baltimore, Md.; three sons, James (Annice) North Jr., Vincent (Tina) North of Virginia Beach, Va. and Kenneth Clark of Evergreen; three sisters, Easterlean Clark of Hartford, Conn., Lillian Kate Curry of South Bay, Fla. and Linda Clark of Atmore; a host of grandchildren; and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A walk-through viewing will be held this Fri., Nov. 27, 2020 from 2-5 p.m. at the funeral home.
A funeral service will be held this Sat., Nov. 28, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Empowerment Tabernacle Christian Center on Peachtree Street in Atmore with Bishop Darryl North, pastor, officiating.
Inhumation will be in Fairview Cemetery. Facial masks are mandatory to enter funeral home for viewing and the church for the funeral service.
