ECHA: 38 additional cases reported since Dec. 8

The Escambia County Healthcare Authority announced today that more than 1,000 cases of COVID-19 have been reported out of its two hospitals.

The latest – 1,031 cases – is an increase of 38 cases since Dec. 8.

According to a release, 702 (up 25) cases have been reported out of Atmore Community Hospital, and 329 (up 13) from D.W. McMillan Memorial in Brewton.

At ACH, 3,424 specimens have been collected, 2,642 have been negative with 35 pending and 45 inconclusive.

At DWM, 1,641 specimens have been collected with 1,269 negative results, 16 pending and 27 inconclusive.

According to the Alabama Department of Public Health, 2,234 confirmed cases have been reported out of Escambia County. Eight-hundred-and-ninety-six specimens have been collected over the last 14 days. Thirty-two people have died in the county.

The numbers are updated biweekly to help reflect current case numbers from the ECHA. Due to the timing of the informatin, the numbers may differe from the numbers on the ADPH’s website.

Confirmed cases are recorded by public health officials in the patient’s county of residence.
