COVID-19: ECHA reports 1,130 cases from hospitals

The Escambia County Healthcare Authority announced that that 1,130 cases of COVID-19 have been reported out of its two hospitals.
The latest is an increase of 56 cases since Dec. 18.
According to a release, 773 cases have been reported out of Atmore Community Hospital, and 357 from D.W. McMillan Memorial in Brewton.
At ACH, 3,592 specimens have been collected, 2,768 have been negative with four pending and 47 inconclusive.
At DWM, 1,708 specimens have been collected with 1,323 negative results, five pending and 28 inconclusive.
According to the Alabama Department of Public Health, 2,469 confirmed cases have been reported out of Escambia County. Some 680 specimens have been collected over the last 14 days. Thirty-three people have died in the county.
The numbers are updated biweekly to help reflect current case numbers from the ECHA. Due to the timing of the informatin, the numbers may differe from the numbers on the ADPH’s website.
Confirmed cases are recorded by public health officials in the patient’s county of residence.
