COVID-19: ECHA releases Friday report

The Escambia County Healthcare Authority announced today that that 1,382 cases of COVID-19 have been reported out of its two hospitals.

The latest is an increase of 69 cases since Jan. 12, 2021 when the ECHA released its last update.

According to a release, 890 cases have been reported out of Atmore Community Hospital, and 492 from D.W. McMillan Memorial in Brewton.

At ACH, 3,932 specimens have been collected, 2,989 have been negative with five pending and 48 inconclusive.

At DWM, 2,093 specimens have been collected with 1,563 negative results, seven pending and 31 inconclusive.

According to the Alabama Department of Public Health, 3,124 confirmed cases have been reported out of Escambia County. Some 1,812 specimens have been collected over the last 14 days.

Forty-two people have died in the county.

The numbers are updated biweekly to help reflect current case numbers from the ECHA. Due to the timing of the informatin, the numbers may differe from the numbers on the ADPH’s website.

Confirmed cases are recorded by public health officials in the patient’s county of residence.
