ECHA: 1,419 cases reported out of hospitals

The Escambia County Healthcare Authority announced Tuesday that 1,419 cases of COVID-19 have been reported out of its two hospitals.

The latest is an increase of 37 cases since Jan. 15, 2021 when the ECHA released its last update.

According to a release, 910 cases have been reported out of Atmore Community Hospital, and 509 from D.W. McMillan Memorial in Brewton.

At ACH, 3,988 specimens have been collected, 3,022 have been negative with eight pending and 48 inconclusive.

At DWM, 2,147 specimens have been collected with 1,604 negative results, three pending and 31 inconclusive.

According to the Alabama Department of Public Health, 3,193 confirmed cases have been reported out of Escambia County. Some 1,923 specimens have been collected over the last 14 days.

Forty-two people have died in the county.

The numbers are updated biweekly to help reflect current case numbers from the ECHA. Due to the timing of the informatin, the numbers may differe from the numbers on the ADPH’s website.

Confirmed cases are recorded by public health officials in the patient’s county of residence.
