Mr. James “Ray” Archer, 82, passed away on Mon., Jan. 18, 2021 in Atmore.

Mr. Archer was a native of Robertsdale, a former resident of Pensacola, Fla. and had resided in Atmore for the past 16 years. He was a brake and alignment mechanic for 43 years, in the Pensacola area.

He loved fishing, hunting, country music, singing, playing his guitar and telling jokes. He was a member of the True Hope Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents and son, Randal Ray Archer.

He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Kathryn “Kay” McGhee Archer of Atmore; one son, Rodney Archer of Pensacola; step-children, Richard Crosby of Seattle, Wash., Terry Crosby Vega of Newnan, Ga. and Gerald Crosby of Los Angeles, Calif.; two brothers, Lowell Archer of Cantonment, Fla. and Billy (Frances) Archer of Cantonment; special step-grandson, Luke Vega of Newnan; special step-granddaughter, Bama Coburn of Atmore; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and many friends.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes LLC of Atmore is in charge of all arrangements.
