ECHA reports 1,481 cases in latest update

The Escambia County Healthcare Authority announced Tuesday that 1,481 cases of COVID-19 have been reported out of its two hospitals.

The latest is an increase of 62 cases since Jan. 19, 2021.

According to a release, 921 cases have been reported out of Atmore Community Hospital, and 560 from D.W. McMillan Memorial in Brewton.

At ACH, 4,054 specimens have been collected, 3,083 have been negative with two pending and 48 inconclusive.

At DWM, 3,152 specimens have been collected with 1,708 negative results, four pending and 32 inconclusive.

According to the Alabama Department of Public Health, 3,422 confirmed cases have been reported out of Escambia County. Some 1,784 specimens have been collected over the last 14 days.

Forty-four people have died in the county.

The numbers are updated biweekly to help reflect current case numbers from the ECHA. Due to the timing of the informatin, the numbers may differe from the numbers on the ADPH’s website.

Confirmed cases are recorded by public health officials in the patient’s county of residence.
