Overseer Shawon D. Salter, 48, of Atmore, fell asleep in the arms of Jesus on Tues., Feb. 2, 2021, at Springhill Medical Center in Mobile.

A native of Atmore, he was a 1991 graduate of Escambia County High School and an employee of Alto Products for many years. He was a coach YMCA basketball and Cal Ripken and Babe Ruth Baseball and was a die hard Alabama and Pittsburgh Steeler fan.

He was united in membership with the Harris Street AOH Church of God in 1995. He was pastor of Light of the World AOH Church of God in Pensacola, Fla. and later he was appointed as pastor of Harris Street AOH Church of God, where he served faithfully until his death.

Those that await his heavenly arrival are his parents, Jesse James “RED” Salter and his mother Juanita Salter.

Those left to cherish memories of his love and legacy are his loving wife, Minister Nerissa Salter of Atmore; sons, Gavin and Aaron Salter of Atmore; daughters, Zion and Katia Salter of Atmore; sisters, Valerie Salter of Atmore, Jessica English and Jennifer English, of Los Angeles, Calif.; brothers, Winston (Nebral) Salter of Mobile, Jerry Johnson of Bay Minette and LeDon English of Los Angeles; three grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A celebration of life service was held on Feb. 6, 2021 at Deliverance Ministry of Jesus Christ No. 1, Atmore with Bishop Quillas Mitchell as eulogist; Bishop Gregory Cannon, president; and the Rev. Kelvin Williams, gracious Host. Thine earthly bed shall rest at Fairview Cemetery with Turner Funeral Chapel directing.
