Rev. John Charles “Johnny” Rushing, Sr., 70, of Atmore, passed away on January 28, 2021.

Rushing

He was born on March 17, 1950. He served in The United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was the former police chief of Florala and Sipsey, and served many years in law enforcement.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Lois Rushing; his sister, Jean Brown and his brother, Eddie Rushing.

He is survived by his children, John Charles Rushing, Jr. of Crestview, Fla., Jamie Rushing of DeFuniak Springs, FL, Tammy Rushing (Weylin) Felicilda of Crestview, FL and Sherry (Jerry) Capps of Jasper, AL; his brother, Victor Rushing and his sisters, Patricia Owsley and Deborah Baggett; ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held on Feb. 5, 2021.

Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
