“Upon speaking with witnesses, it was determined that a gray Chevrolet Tahoe had been stolen while stationary at the gas pump,” Brooks said in a release. “A female jumped into the vehicle and sped away causing damage to the pump in the process.”

Brooks said law enforcement with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and the APD pursued the vehicle, where Lape drove onto Interstate 65 southbound and exited in Baldwin County, County Road 47, where she then crashed the vehicle and attempted to elude officers on foot. She was apprehended a short time later and placed under arrest.

Brooks said Lape was transported to North Baldwin Infirmary, where she was treated for minor injuries.
