ECHA: 2 new COVID-19 cases reported since March 5

The Escambia County Healthcare Authority announced today that 1,572 cases of COVID-19 have been reported out of its two hospitals.

This is an increase of two cases since the March 5 report.

According to a release, 954 (plus two) cases have been reported out of Atmore Community Hospital, and 618 from D.W. McMillan Memorial in Brewton since the last update.

At ACH, 4,397 specimens have been collected, 3,394 have been negative with zero pending and 48 inconclusive.

At DWM, 3,816 specimens have been collected with 3,166 negative results, zero pending and 32 inconclusive.

According to the Alabama Department of Public Health, 3,807 confirmed cases have been reported out of Escambia County. Some 1,003 specimens have been collected over the last 14 days.

Seventy-three people have died in the county.

The numbers are updated biweekly to help reflect current case numbers from the ECHA. Due to the timing of the informatin, the numbers may differe from the numbers on the ADPH’s website.

Confirmed cases are recorded by public health officials in the patient’s county of residence.
