ECHA: 2 additional COVID cases reported since March 19

The Escambia County Healthcare Authority announced March 23 that 1,579 cases of COVID-19 have been reported out of its two hospitals.

This is an increase of two cases since the March 19 report.

According to a release, 955 (even) cases have been reported out of Atmore Community Hospital, and 624 (plus two) from D.W. McMillan Memorial in Brewton since the last update.

At ACH, 4,452 specimens have been collected, 3,449 have been negative with zero pending and 48 inconclusive.

At DWM, 3,882 specimens have been collected with 3,231 negative results, zero pending and 32 inconclusive.

According to the Alabama Department of Public Health, 3,845 confirmed cases have been reported out of Escambia County. Some 870 specimens have been collected over the last 14 days.

Seventy-four – one additional from the March 19 update –  people have died in the county.

The numbers are updated biweekly to help reflect current case numbers from the ECHA. Due to the timing of the informatin, the numbers may differe from the numbers on the ADPH’s website.

Confirmed cases are recorded by public health officials in the patient’s county of residence.
