Landis hits 2-run single in walk-off win over Central

Northview’s Josh Landis hit a two-run single in the bottom of the seventh inning to help lead the Chiefs to a 10-9 victory over Central tonight in Bratt, Fla.

The walk-off hit was the culmination of a come-from-behind victory that saw the Chiefs trailing 9-1 after the first inning.

NHS went on to score three runs in the second, one run each in the third, fourth and sixth and three runs in the seventh.

Northview’s Jamarkus Jefferson allowed nine runs on three hits in five innings and struck out eight batters.

Rustin Pope went 2-for-4 with three RBIs to lead NHS. Kaden Odom went 2-for-4 with two RBIs; Josh Landis went 1-for-4 with two RBIs; Luke Bridges went 2-for-3 with an RBI; and Wyatt Scruggs went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Landis came in in relief, striking out three 2.0 innings.

Peadon, W. Reeves and Lawson had one hit each for Central. All three added two RBIs.

The Chiefs entered tonight’s contest after defeating CHS 15-4 the previous evening.

NHS scored one run each in the first and second inning, nine runs in the third and four runs in the fifth.
