RPES celebrating Autism Awareness month, day

Rachel Patterson Elementary School is celebrating Autism Awareness Month and Day this week.

Autism Awareness Day is this Fri., April 2.

Each day, students will participate in a different activity that relates to Autism Awareness.

Monday’s activity included acceptance. Students learned facts about autism and discussed acceptance, and colored an autism ribbon.

On Tuesday, students will discuss the importance of being kind to others. Students will perform one act of kindness.

Love day will be held on Wednesday, where students will show love and support for students with autism by adding blue accessories to their uniform.

This Thursday, students will put the pieces together and make friends with someone they are not friends with.

On Friday for Autism Awareness Day, there is no school as it’s Good Friday. Students will share something they learned this week about autism with someone at home.
