Escambia Academy is No. 10 in the Alabama Sports Writers Association’s AISA baseball poll, which was released today.

The Cougars defeated Central 16-1 on Monday.

Last week, EA fell 4-2 and 3-2 to Lowndes Academy in a doubleheader.

The Cougars visit Wilcox Academy today for a key region contest to determine the No. 2 seed in the playoffs.

Other area baseball rankings include Florala at No. 10 in Class 1A; T.R. Miller at No. 1 and Opp at No. 8 in Class 3A; Straughn at No. 6 in Class 4A; and Andalusia at No. 2 in Class 5A.

In softball, Opp is No. 7. TRM was nominated, but not ranked in the poll.

Andalusia, at 15-11-1 on the season, was nominated in Class 5A, but not ranked.
