COVID-19: 1 additional case reported since April 16

The Escambia County Healthcare Authority announced April 20 that 1,593 cases of COVID-19 have been reported out of its two hospitals.

The latest number is an increase of one case ince the April 16 report.

According to a release, 961 (even) cases have been reported out of Atmore Community Hospital, and 632 (plus one) from D.W. McMillan Memorial in Brewton since the last update.

At ACH, 4,613 specimens have been collected, 3,603 have been negative with one pending and 48 inconclusive.

At DWM, 4,014 specimens have been collected with 3,351 negative results, one pending and 32 inconclusive.

According to the Alabama Department of Public Health, 3,903 confirmed cases have been reported out of Escambia County. Some 1,005 specimens have been collected over the last 14 days.

Seventy-four people have died in the county.

The numbers are updated biweekly to help reflect current case numbers from the ECHA. Due to the timing of the informatin, the numbers may differe from the numbers on the ADPH’s website.

Confirmed cases are recorded by public health officials in the patient’s county of residence.
