Mobile man dies in truck crash Thursday morning

A Mobile man died in a single-vehicle crash near the intersection of State Road 97 and Meadows Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The 52-year-old was driving a tractor trailer log truck north on State Road 97 approaching Meadows Road, when for an unknown reason, the truck traveled off the roadway, causing the log truck to collide with several mailboxes and a tree, according ot FHP officials.

The driver of the log truck was transported to Atmore Community Hospital with life threatening injuries. Once the driver arrived at ACH, he was pronouced deceased, according to the FHP.

The FHP doesn’t release the names of those involved in vehicle crashes.

According to reports, the Walnut Hill, Century and McDavid, Fla. stations of Escambia Fire Rescue, the Atmore Fire Department and the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the crash.
