ECHA: 2 additional COVID cases reported since April 20

The Escambia County Healthcare Authority announced today that 1,595 cases of COVID-19 have been reported out of its two hospitals.

The latest number is an increase of two cases since the April 20 report.

According to a release, 962 (plus one) cases have been reported out of Atmore Community Hospital, and 633 (plus one) from D.W. McMillan Memorial in Brewton since the last update.

At ACH, 4,636 specimens have been collected, 3,625 have been negative with one pending and 48 inconclusive.

At DWM, 4,037 specimens have been collected with 3,372 negative results, one pending and 32 inconclusive.

According to the Alabama Department of Public Health, 3,908 confirmed cases have been reported out of Escambia County. Some 1,028 specimens have been collected over the last 14 days.

Seventy-five people have died in the county.

The numbers are updated biweekly to help reflect current case numbers from the ECHA. Due to the timing of the informatin, the numbers may differe from the numbers on the ADPH’s website.

Confirmed cases are recorded by public health officials in the patient’s county of residence.
