COVID-19: 4 new cases reported since April 27

The Escambia County Healthcare Authority announced today that 1,606 cases of COVID-19 have been reported out of its two hospitals.

The latest number is an increase of four cases since the April 27 report.

According to a release, 968 (plus four) cases have been reported out of Atmore Community Hospital, and 638 (no change) from D.W. McMillan Memorial in Brewton since the last update.

At ACH, 4,677 specimens have been collected, 3,660 have been negative with one pending and 48 inconclusive.

At DWM, 4,083 specimens have been collected with 3,413 negative results, two pending and 32 inconclusive.

According to the Alabama Department of Public Health, 3,921 confirmed cases have been reported out of Escambia County. Some 1,032 specimens have been collected over the last 14 days.

Seventy-five people have died in the county.

The numbers are updated biweekly to help reflect current case numbers from the ECHA. Due to the timing of the informatin, the numbers may differe from the numbers on the ADPH’s website.

Confirmed cases are recorded by public health officials in the patient’s county of residence.
