ECHA: 3 new COVID cases reported since April 30

The Escambia County Healthcare Authority announced May 4 that 1,609 cases of COVID-19 have been reported out of its two hospitals.

The latest number is an increase of three cases since the April 30 report.

According to a release, 970 (plus two) cases have been reported out of Atmore Community Hospital, and 639 (plus one) from D.W. McMillan Memorial in Brewton since the last update.

At ACH, 4,690 specimens have been collected, 3,672 have been negative with zero pending and 48 inconclusive.

At DWM, 4,117 specimens have been collected with 3,446 negative results, zero pending and 32 inconclusive.

According to the Alabama Department of Public Health, 3,926 confirmed cases have been reported out of Escambia County. Some 1,011 specimens have been collected over the last 14 days.

Seventy-five people have died in the county.

The numbers are updated biweekly to help reflect current case numbers from the ECHA. Due to the timing of the informatin, the numbers may differe from the numbers on the ADPH’s website.

Confirmed cases are recorded by public health officials in the patient’s county of residence.
