ECHA reports 3 additional cases since May 7

The Escambia County Healthcare Authority announced May 11 that 1,614 cases of COVID-19 have been reported out of its two hospitals.

The latest number is an increase of three cases since the May 7 report.

According to a release, 971 (even) cases have been reported out of Atmore Community Hospital, and 643 (plus three) from D.W. McMillan Memorial in Brewton since the last update.

At ACH, 4,717 specimens have been collected, 3,698 have been negative with zero pending and 48 inconclusive.

At DWM, 4,175 specimens have been collected with 3,497 negative results, two pending and 32 inconclusive.

According to the Alabama Department of Public Health, 3,934 confirmed cases have been reported out of Escambia County. Some 866 specimens have been collected over the last 14 days.

Seventy-six people have died in the county.

The numbers are updated biweekly to help reflect current case numbers from the ECHA. Due to the timing of the informatin, the numbers may differe from the numbers on the ADPH’s website.

Confirmed cases are recorded by public health officials in the patient’s county of residence.
