ECHA reports 2 additional cases since May 14

The Escambia County Healthcare Authority announced May 18 that 1,617 cases of COVID-19 have been reported out of its two hospitals.

The latest number is an increase of two cases since the May 14 report.

According to a release, 971 (even) cases have been reported out of Atmore Community Hospital, and 646 (plus two) from D.W. McMillan Memorial in Brewton since the last update.

At ACH, 4,739 specimens have been collected, 3,720 have been negative with zero pending and 48 inconclusive.

At DWM, 4,213 specimens have been collected with 3,531 negative results,  two pending and 32 inconclusive.

According to the Alabama Department of Public Health, 3,951 confirmed cases have been reported out of Escambia County. Some 864 specimens have been collected over the last 14 days.

Seventy-seven people have died in the county.

The numbers are updated biweekly to help reflect current case numbers from the ECHA. Due to the timing of the informatin, the numbers may differe from the numbers on the ADPH’s website.

Confirmed cases are recorded by public health officials in the patient’s county of residence.
