COVID: ECHA reports 2 additional cases since May 25

The Escambia County Healthcare Authority announced today that 1,623 cases of COVID-19 have been reported out of its two hospitals.

The latest number is an increase of two cases since the May 25 report.

According to a release, 971 (even) cases have been reported out of Atmore Community Hospital, and 652 (plus two) from D.W. McMillan Memorial in Brewton since the last update.

At ACH, 4,769 specimens have been collected, 3,750 have been negative with zero pending and 48 inconclusive.

At DWM, 4,283 specimens have been collected with 3,593 negative results, zero pending and 32 inconclusive.

According to the Alabama Department of Public Health, 3,966 confirmed cases have been reported out of Escambia County. Some 779 specimens have been collected over the last 14 days.

Seventy-seven people have died in the county.

The numbers are updated biweekly to help reflect current case numbers from the ECHA. Due to the timing of the informatin, the numbers may differe from the numbers on the ADPH’s website.

Confirmed cases are recorded by public health officials in the patient’s county of residence.
