Tribal council election held

The Poarch Creek Indians held its Tribal council election June 5.

Robbie McGhee was re-elected as vice chairman. McGhee defeated Anthony Peebles, garnering 806 votes.

Peebles finished with 138 votes.

In the at large seats, Incumbents Sandy Hollinger and Keith Martin won re-election bids.

Hollinger racked up 599 votes, and Martin had 523.

According to election officials, there was a total of 974 general council members who voted in the Tribal election on June 5. There were 179 absentee ballots and 595 walk-in ballots counted.

Two-hundred general council members vote in person on election day.
