COVID: ECHA reports 16 additional cases since June 8 report

The Escambia County Healthcare Authority announced June 15 that 1,647 cases of COVID-19 have been reported out of its two hospitals.

The latest number is an increase of 16 cases since the June 8 report.

According to a release, 975 (plus 1) cases have been reported out of Atmore Community Hospital, and 672 (plus 15) from D.W. McMillan Memorial in Brewton since the last update.

At ACH, 4,821 specimens have been collected, 3,798 have been negative with zero pending and 48 inconclusive.

At DWM, 4,394 specimens have been collected with 3,684 negative results, one pending and 32 inconclusive.

According to the Alabama Department of Public Health, 4,011 confirmed cases have been reported out of Escambia County. Some 769 specimens have been collected over the last 14 days.

Eighty people have died in the county. This is one additional death since the June 8 report.

The numbers are updated biweekly to help reflect current case numbers from the ECHA. Due to the timing of the informatin, the numbers may differe from the numbers on the ADPH’s website.

Confirmed cases are recorded by public health officials in the patient’s county of residence.
