Customers of Alabama Power Company will now have access to information concerning power outages — just in time for hurricane season.

APCO officials have established an interactive map and outage communications system mobile application that will allow customers to get a visual look at outages across the state. By zooming in on the app, customers will be able to view outages in the state, county, city and right down to their street.

The information on the app will indicate the suspected cause of the outage, evaluation of the outage and an estimated time for power restoration at the outage sight.

According to information provided by APCO, the outage alerts will offer real-time updates on your phone or computer concerning the restoration of power in any given area.

The app is free and available for download. From your cell phone, simply text “Enroll” to 272688.  The app is available for both Apple and Android devices.
