The Tip Tops’ sound echoed off of the downtown buildings in Atmore on June 17.

The Summer Kickoff event, held by Main Street Atmore, First National Bank and Trust and Pepsi Bottling Co., was a big success.

I walked down Main Street to the green space between FNBT and the two buildings beside it a litte tired after moving furniture most of the day. To be honest, I was soar for the next couple of days.

Once I arrived, I was immediately captivated by the band from Mobile. I was trying to rack my brain as to where I have heard them before.

Pretty soon afterward, I began to take pictures of the joyous event, which grew in attendance as the night went along.

By the time an hour had passed, I walked back to the office to the band taking an intermission.

The music I heard was fantastic as was the friendly banter I had back and forth with those who I have gotten to know.

After settling in for the night at home, I was looking around on Facebook and noticed that a dance party ensued later in the kickoff event.

I was pleased to see that the party spilled out into the bank’s drive-thru lanes.

Kudos goes to the organizers for planning such a fun-filled event.

I’m looking forward to the next one around the bend.
