COVID-19: 5 additional cases reported since June 29 report

The Escambia County Healthcare Authority announced July 6 that 1,668 cases of COVID-19 have been reported out of its two hospitals.

The latest number is an increase of five cases since the June 29 report. The ECHA releases its COVID-19 report every Tuesday.

According to a release, 977 (even) cases have been reported out of Atmore Community Hospital, and 691 (plus five) from D.W. McMillan Memorial in Brewton since the last update.

At ACH, 4,886 specimens have been collected, 3,860 have been negative with zero pending and 48 inconclusive.

At DWM, 4,569 specimens have been collected with 3,841 negative results, one pending and 32 inconclusive.

According to the Alabama Department of Public Health, 4,038 confirmed cases have been reported out of Escambia County. Some 711 specimens have been collected over the last 14 days.

Eighty-one people have died in the county. This marks an increase of one since the June 29 report.

The numbers are updated biweekly to help reflect current case numbers from the ECHA. Due to the timing of the informatin, the numbers may differe from the numbers on the ADPH’s website.

Confirmed cases are recorded by public health officials in the patient’s county of residence.
