Dorothy “Dottie” Coxwell Daniel Crawford, 88, died on Sun., July 18, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on Dec. 8, 1932, in Monroeville, the daughter of Hurdis and Bessie Daniel. She married John Daniel Crawford of Atmore.

Dottie was a faithful, devoted wife and mother. She was very well traveled due to being a military wife. She enjoyed being a part of her church and spent many years volunteering. She was fortunate to pursue her dream of renovating a historical home in Bagdad, Fla. Dottie loved finding antiques and refurbishing them. She completed her LPN degree and worked for a year at Santa Rosa Hospital in Milton, Fla. and spent the remainder of her career working in her husband’s dental clinic.

Survivors include her children, John Crawford (Zan) of Huntsville, Tom Crawford of Charleston, S.C. and Vida Walls (Ken) of Huntsville; daughter in law, Christine Crawford of Charleston; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Raymond Daniel of Atmore; and one sister, Margaret Jaye of Orange Beach.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. John D. Crawford; sister, Eleanor Bell; brothers, David Daniel, John Daniel and Ted Daniel; and her parents.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow, Thurs., July 22 at Whitesburg Baptist Chapel.

The family would like to thank the staff of 2 East at Crestwood hospital for their support and care given to their mother.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Whitesburg Baptist Church Missions, the Downtown Rescue Mission or Big Oak Ranch.
