Michele M. McClung was tapped as the new superintendent of education for the Escambia County School System this afternoon during a special-called meeting of the board.

ECSS boardmembers met in the main courtroom at the Escambia County Courthouse to vote for the person who succeeds John Knott.

In a 4-3 vote, McClung took the spot over Gary K. Glass with boardmembers agreeing to consider their vote unanimous after a motion by board member Danny Benjamin with a second from Mike Edwards. All members of the board voted in agreement.
