ECHCA: 109 COVID cases reported since July 27

The Escambia County Healthcare Authority announced Aug. 3 that 1,846 cases of COVID-19 have been reported out of its two hospitals.

The latest number is an increase of 109 cases since the July 27 report. The ECHA releases its COVID-19 report every Tuesday.

According to a release, 1,035 (plus 30) cases have been reported out of Atmore Community Hospital, and 811 (plus 72) from D.W. McMillan Memorial in Brewton since the last update. At ACH, 5,119 have been tested for the virus as of Aug. 3, and 5,092 have been tested at DWM.

According to the Alabama Department of Public Health, 4,510 confirmed cases have been reported out of Escambia County.

Eighty-three people have died in the county.

Due to the timing of the informatin, the numbers may differ from the numbers on the ADPH’s website.

Confirmed cases are recorded by public health officials in the patient’s county of residence.
