TS Fred forecasted to bring rain, wind to eastern Escambia County

Escambia County EMA Director David Adams said current forecasts for Tropical Storm Fred locally includes wind and rain east of the county.

“However, this forecast can change quickly, so please stay aware of the changing forecast and conditions,” Adams said.

Adams said TS Fred is over Cuba and is expected to enter the eastern Gulf of Mexico tomorrow, Sat., Aug. 14.

“The current forecast calls for the storm to strengthen to tropical storm force before making landfall near Apalachicola FL (Florida) late Sunday or Sunday night,” he said.

Adams reminded those that we have the potential weather at anytime during hurricane season and to review emergency plans and supplies.

Additionally, Adams said the National Weather Service is monitoring another tropical system in the Atlantic, Potential Tropical Cyclone 7.

It is still too early to know how this may impact our area, but please monitor its progress,” he said.
