Gladys P. Sullivan, 85, of Cantonment, Fla., passed away on Aug. 12, 2021 in Alexander City.

She was born in Talladega, AL. on July 3, 1936 to the late Robert C. and Vergie Garner Phillips.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert C. and Vergie Garner Phillips; first husband, Carel Max Smith Sr.; second husband, Byron M. Sullivan; her son, James Dale Smith; five brothers; and two sisters.

She is survived by her three sons, Max (Carolyn) Smith of Tuscaloosa, Robert (Ellen) Smith of Rockford and John Smith of Rockford; one daughter, Mary (Bobby) Land of Jay, Fla.; one brother, Edward (Lorine) London of Sylacauga; one sister, Mary (Lewis) Reynolds of Rockford; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Aug. 16, 2021 at Farm Hill United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeff Fuller and the Rev. Mark Dees officiating. Interment followed in Farm Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
