Escambia County EMA Director David Adams said today that Tropical Depression No. 9 has formed in the Caribbean and is expected to develop into a hurricane.

Adams said conditions are favorable for the storm to intensify before making landfall.

“The current forecast shows the highest probability of landfall to our west,” Adams said. “This places our are on the eastern side of the storm. The forecast track can change and further east that the track moves, the higher the likelihood of local impacts.”
