ECHCA: 31 new COVID cases since Sept. 21 in county

The Escambia County Healthcare Authority announced Sept. 28 that 2,767 cases of COVID-19 have been reported out of its two hospitals.

The latest number is an increase of 31 cases since the Sept. 21 report. The ECHA releases its COVID-19 report every Tuesday.

According to a release, 1,189 cases (plus eight) have been reported out of Atmore Community Hospital, and 1,578 cases (plus 23) from D.W. McMillan Memorial in Brewton since the last update. At ACH, 5,868 have been tested for the virus as of Sept. 28, and 7,851 have been tested at DWM.

According to the Alabama Department of Public Health, 6,599 confirmed cases have been reported out of Escambia County.

One-hundred-and-twenty-one (plus 10) people have died in the county.

Due to the timing of the informatin, the numbers may differ from the numbers on the ADPH’s website.

Confirmed cases are recorded by public health officials in the patient’s county of residence.
