Blue Devils top W.S. Neal 36-24 on homecoming

Escambia County beat W.S. Neal 36-24 on homecoming tonight at Hubert Barnes Field.
The Blue Devils led 24-0 going into the fourth quarter, and added a 10-yard touchdown rush from quarterback Dakota DeSpain with 8:14 left.
W.S. Neal, winless on the season, didn’t back down as Lakietric Barnes scored a short time later to cut the lead to 30-8.
Escambia County’s EJ thomas added a more than 40-yard touchdown rush 20 seconds later to cushion the lead.
To make things interesting, Barnes added two more touchdowns with less than 2 minutes remaining.
“We played well,” ECHS head football coach Scott Mason said. “We ran the ball well. We blocked well, considering we have so many offensive linemen out.”
Mason said it was great for the team to win on homecoming.
